Our Goal
“To foster social competence among youth through their involvement in sport, fitness, and educational activities.”
What We Teach
Ages Served: 5 – 14 (8th grade)
SETS – Self-control, Effort, Teamwork & Social Responsibility
Proper Nutrition
Importance of Daily Physical Activity
Introductory individual sport technique & strategy
How We Do It
6 Week Summer Camp
Youth participate in 7 sports: basketball, dance, football, general fitness/strength, soccer, yoga and Zumba. These videos are recorded and available to youth on demand.
Bi-weekly Chalk Talk Lessons
Play-based social skills curriculum which teaches youth self-control, effort, teamwork and social responsibility (SETS). These sessions are completed via Zoom with a live instructor.
Weakly Health Lessons
Play-based health curriculum which teaches youth the importance of proper nutrition, physical activity, and mental health skills to be a successful athlete.
Weekly Celebrity Q&As
As a reward for youth participation, youth are invited to participate in weekly question and answer sessions with former and current OSU athletes and local sport stars.
Weekly Parent/Guardian Support Sessions
Program Incentives
Youth are rewarded for the virtual participation and receive incentives such as OSU hats, water bottles, and shirts for the completion of program activities.
Program Supplies
Youth pick-up camp sports equipment at local community sites every two weeks.
