Get Involved as a Student
Join the LiFEsports Family
As part of one of the largest universities in the United States, the LiFEsports Initiative prioritized teaching and learning strategies as a way to increase the number of highly-skilled youth development professionals in the field. To achieve these goals, the LiFEsports Initiative currently offers a number of ways for students to be involved in the Initiative.
Complete An Internship
Each year, LiFEsports provides internships for students studying in a variety of fields. Each year we hired 2-3 student interns to work on our team year-round. Additionally, each summer we hire interns in our summer programs. Interns serve as counselors, sport leaders, and academic enrichment specialists. These internships meet the requirements for a variety of majors including social work, sport and leisure studies, coaching, education, sports management, community leadership and more. You do not have to be an Ohio State student to complete an internship with LiFEsports!
Volunteer in Our Programs
Our programs wouldn’t be possible without dedicated and committed volunteers. Students are invited to volunteer within any of our programs, including our summer camps, clinics, and Youth Leadership Academy. Opportunities include instructing sport activities, mentoring our youth, supporting administrative tasks, and many more!
Join Our Research Team
LiFEsports has a number of opportunities for students to assist and contribute to various research studies focused on youth development and sport. LiFEsports offers students the ability to conduct research in almost any field of study, from hands-on experience in measuring youth fitness levels to using the LiFEsports summer camp as a learning laboratory for student dissertations and theses. At LiFEsports, research opportunities can relate to students in all majors and can be adapted to a student’s individual interests. Students can gain experience with the LiFEsports research team by helping with data collection, journal coding, and more! Students may be able to complete an independent study, capstone project, thesis, or dissertation for course credit or for volunteer research experience to boost their résumé/CV.
